Daughters in My Kingdom

There is a new History and Work of Relief Society book that has been released.  It is so inspiring.  I'm on Chapter 5 and cannot put it down.  The book can be downloaded for free at the link below.  It is an inspiration and answer to many of my prayers as a woman.

It is a great reference for those wanting to learn more about the largest women's organization in the world, the purpose of it, and how it started.

“I will go forward.  I will smile at the rage of the tempest, and ride fearlessly and triumphantly across the boisterous ocean of circumstance…and the ‘testimony of Jesus’ will light up a lamp that will guide my vision through the portals of immortality.”  -Eliza R. Snow

First Soccer Games for 2011 Season

Uncle David took photos of John and Ella.  They each had a soccer game on Saturday.
We were so happy Nana, Pappa, and Uncle David set time aside to come!

Ella jumping for joy.

Ella in the air, flag at half-staff for September 11.
So grateful for these American freedoms.

If you zoom into the photo above you can see Ella's thrilled face after her team scored.

John was very determined.

I think he was frightening the other children.

Getting Familiar with Political Candidates: Jobs

Obama's Job Plans - we'll see how today ends with a new and improved job plan. Needess to say, whatever promises arise, it's hard to trust that follow through will happen. Not to say they can't though.

Mitt Romney's Job and Economic Growth Plan - is a great read strategizing particular future economic efforts.  Wow!

Rick Perry's Job Proposal - is a bit lean.  Actually disappointing.  No meat and potatoes here.

Randall Terry - Could not find a job plan, just anti-abortion photos.  Don't even bother going to his website...it's very disturbing.  His absloute fixation clearly makes him an inappropriate candidate...I'll just come right out and say it.  Creepy.

Michele Bachmann's Job Outline - mimics Perry's.  Does anyone else think she and Palin are twin sisters?  She's got a lot of energy (for having 5 kids, 23 foster kids).  Still, her "small business" experience hardly has prepared her for saving America.

Newt Gingrich, Job Solutions - A little more sustance.  Videos and promises.  He had a better outline than some of the other.

Ron Paul - I found no solid info on his job plans.  His website outlines Money, but doesn't come clear as to specific job creation strategies.  I did find this interesting article about him being the victim to Perry arm-grabbing and finger-pointing though.  No slap scenes, darn it.

LABOR Day

We had a very eventful Labor Day weekend.
Friday we went up to the cabin for cooler weather and relaxation.

Saturday we planted 4 pine trees then went to B's sweet sixteen birthday party.

Sunday we went to church and found sanctuary with our ward then headed back to the cabin. Sunday night we played Yahtzee and had s'mores (not to mention a very intersting Chubby Bunny game).

Here's when things got a little embarassing...

Monday we woke up to do some sanding of the log cabin.
This is what happens when a belt sander gets caught in your clothing!

Oh how lucky I was!
Here's how it happened:  I got up to move the sander across the porch and it caught my pant leg.
The sander (50grit) buzzed right up my leg and caught my drawstrings.
My brother dove over to save me while Adam ran over screaming "UNPLUG IT!!"
It was so scary that I didn't care I was standing in my divine underwear (which went completely unscathed).
:)

Everyone tucked in their drawstrings after this accident.  I was actually being very careful and had rolled my pants back and tied my hair in a ponytail.  Still, I was a little miffed it happened to me.

I know you like reading about my embarassing moment...
Might as well share it with the world.
In 1,000 years people will be looking at this ancient internet record and commenting on my pale leg.
