There will be a Surprise Pride Day on Saturday June 21st!! I went to a gathering with a city councilman this morning and I'm excited to volunteer at his particular pride day.
The focus for this event will be to help HOA's with homes that are struggling with "self help". Right now the city is being pounded by foreclosures and this leads to an increase in homes with weeds or other exterior eye sores. We will also be helping homes which are occupied but because of hardships the families are unable to do the yard work.
If you are interested in helping with this event please contact me. All volunteers will receive free t-shirts, plenty of water bottles, a light breakfast from Denny's and lunch from Chik-fil-A!!! Come on you guys...can volunteering be ANY EASIER?!?!? Let's show this town what we've got!!

Secret Pottery
Did you know I have a pottery wheel? Adam bought me some brand new clay yesterday from one of my favorite stores, Marjon Ceramics. I just had to drag my wheel out to the patio this morning. The weather is so beautiful. Here's a few photos. Don't look too close...I'm self taught. John loves taking pictures so I let him have a turn being the photographer this morning.

Furniture browsing
I've been looking for furniture ALL day on the internet. It's exhausting! Do any of you get ideas in your head and then you can't think of ANYTHING else!?! We're going to do some projects around the house so stayed tuned.

Into Shape!
Ok -here's my adventure. I emailed city councilman John Williams and offered to volunteer finding sponsors for the city of Surprise Pride Day. I hope he responds!
I also went to visit my friend Mandie and she analyzed my "target weight". Do you know what it is? 124 lbs. Do you know what I am??
Well let's put it this way, I need to eat a 20 lbs. bag of potatoes to get there. I don't want people responding "Oh Anya you're so lucky..." or "Just wait, your metabolism will slow down". I need your support here!!! I'm sick of shopping Mary Kate an Ashley or Baby Gap (just kidding there). Gaining weight is not easy for me.
I went to the gym and ran 2 miles - then I lifted weights. I think the weights are helping me gain - yay!
We took this picture right after the gym (excuse the perspiration).
We also went to the dentist and had quite a rotten time. Ella was scared and hanging on me and John has a cavity. I kept my cool though.
After the whole day, I think I'm whipped. Time for those potatoes.
When a problem comes a long...You must WHIP IT!
Ok we've had a great summer kick-off this week. We've been swimming, walking around historic Glendale and eating fruit popsicles. Today -visiting with our friends the Andersons and a quick trip to the dentist for the kids.
This song came to mind when I started getting into a lurch this morning. For whatever reason I was a little down and bored with life. Not to mention, John said to me while eating his eggs, "Mom, when we're grown up you'll be all lone and Dad will go to work". What?!?
No way! I've got a lot more to do with my life!!!! I'm starting by writing this post then I'll move on to my much needed shower.
Adam always says I need to do what I love. By golly....I'm doin' it today!!! I'll report my adventure later! It's not too late...to WHIP IT!

Tomato Garden
These cherry tomatoes started growing in our garden. We planted some last year but they didn't produce. This year a whole bunch started growing on their own! We've had two big bowls filled and there are so many more to be picked!! We also have basil and our cucumbers are finally looking bigger too. We need to start our sweet potatoes soon!

2008 Block Party
The 2nd annual block party was a success! Here's a few photos of the event.
I wish we took more pictures but we were so busy!
Over 200 water balloons we had to fill on Friday night. Thanks to Mom and Adam, it was fun loading them up! I think our whole kitchen was wet!
I took the kids on the pony and Adam came running to get the photos.
Me, dreaming the dream. Someday - a horse of my own. Maybe one that's a little bigger.
