Hives

Ella had an allergic reaction to amoxicillin this week.  It gave us such a scare because she came into our room Tuesday morning saying she had "itchy buggy bites".

When I looked at her, every inch was covered in hives- her face, ears, legs...and they kept spreading.
She couldn't walk because the hives were on the bottoms of her feet and in the palms of her hands.
The rash is almost gone after the doctors doubled up her prednisone, antihistamines...and lots of oatmeal baths.  The prednisone is making her VERY moody/hyper but we're just glad she's ok.
Ella wanted me to take the polka dots off of her and throw them in the trash.

Letter from an Author

Donna Williams is an author with autism.  I read her book Nobody Nowhere when I was in 7th grade because I had to do a book report on a disability.  My mom suggested the book to me so I read it.

I never realized how reading the book would educate me for future circumstances.  It wasn't until John began showing symptoms of autism that I remembered this book I read a long time ago.  Her explaination of what it's like having autism is really thought-provoking.

I decided to write to Donna Williams and let her know how grateful I was for her book.  And guess what..she emailed me back!!  It was such a wonderful thing to say "THANK YOU" to someone who paved the way and helped others understand autism.  I never would have imagined hearing back from her all these years later.  I can't even begin to explain the irony in reading that book when I was in 7th grade.
It was a full circle moment.

Anya Claus

Here's a good blast from the past now on Netflix Watch Instantly.
Best part of all?  Mrs. Claus is named Anya.
Ella is watching this right now and trying to get better from strep throat.
She threw up all over the car today.

This Song is the BOMB

I always say things are "the bomb". The other night Adam was laughing and said, "People don't say that anymore." Psssshhhh..... This song is THE BOMB.
